That’s still a positive accomplishment, but so far Season Two is suffering from a typical case of second album syndrome. But whichever it is the game still wants you to feel guilty about what happens, even if you were sitting there screaming ‘don’t do that’.Įpisode 2’s ending is a good one, putting the cast in considerably more grim circumstances than usual, but it still only generates a relatively mild interest in what comes next. Sometimes the plot advances because of choices you’ve made, sometimes it does so because the developer wrote it that way. And that’s that not only is the story a lot more linear than it likes to pretend, but that it stays that way precisely because it takes many of the bigger decisions out of your hands. The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 2: A House Divided left me extremely excited for the rest of the season. But there’s a more significant issue that’s become increasing obvious as the series, and Telltale’s general formula, has gone on. Although there’s an awful lot of people going out of their way not to explain themselves properly, which comes across as merely a lazy way for the writers to add conflict to proceedings.Īnd of course there are all the usual Telltale problems, including glitchy graphics and laughably basic quick time events. Hosted by 44 Bytes.Still, Clemy’s attempts to smooth relationships between two different groups of survivors is handled with impressive subtlety, as she uses her friendship with an unexpectedly familiar face to try and focus on the larger problem of Carver and his men. © 2023 Hookshot Media, partner of ReedPop. Elsewhere, you’re properly introduced to the oft spoken of – but never seen – Carver, which is one of the highlights of the entire instalment.
